Legendary musician Lucius Banda has hailed Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani V for not getting involved in politics unlike other chiefs.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Banda said Gomani deserves to be honoured for being silent in politics a thing which he said is lacking in most senior chiefs in the country.

“I am always proud of lnkosi Gomani (bayeeethe!!!) Our Ngoni chief for remaining sober and above partisan politics.
“Thank you for not parading in political rallies and in TVs saying foolish things to win favours. Zaithwa maseko, simumachititsa manyazi Mkomoooo!!!” said Banda.

Many commenters supported Banda claiming Gomani deserves the praises alongside Paramount Chief M’mbelwa V for being non-partisan.

Henry Desire Chisale commented on Banda’s post by saying: “You are very right Soja! These are chiefs with a vision. Saliyekha Inkosi Gomani even M’mbelwa is worth the praises.”

Banda’s remarks comes after Senior Chief Lundu spoke at a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) rally where he showed strong support for the ruling party and attacked Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.

Commenters on Banda’s post also lashed out at Lundu for showing his colours.

“This chief Lundu he thinks he is King of Zamunda or something. He might have watched Eddie Murphy’s Coming to America and thinks he is also the all-powerful who can control human beings forgetting that was fiction,” commented Duffy Dublino.

  6. Do you see the fallacy of politics. Lucius is praising Inkosi Gomani for not being involved in politics and yet he himself is in forefront of mobilising Balaka chiefs to be supporting him. And Lucius is a politician. Lucius should not be taken seriously. In fact he has failed to protect fellow musicians from piracy. Many musicians in Malawi had high hopes that since Lucius is in parliament, some if their challenges they encounter in their career will be looked into. But alas! No progress.

Just try to listen to one of the old albums of Soldier you will notice the difference. Most of his songs now can not compete on the international market because are full of Malawian politics. The profile of a Soldier as far as i know deserves to be one of the great artist in the world had it been that he didnt join politics the same with BK, and JT. Sir Paul Banda once warned Soldier and BK that politics will ruin their music career, for sure it has done a great negative effect in their respective music talent…
