Malawian nurse arrested for attempted rape on a patient

Police in Nkhotakota district are keeping in custody a medical worker at Nkhotakota District Hospital for attempting to rape a woman who went to the hospital to collect medicine.

Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Williams Kaponda identified the suspect as 43 year-old Ian Chimutu.

According to Kaponda, the woman’s daughter was diagnosed with TB and on Friday she went to Nkhotakota hospital to collect medicine for the girl.

RapeAt the hospital she met the suspect at TB Ward who told her to go to the examination room and wait for him.

The wicked nurse later followed the woman to the room and locked the door.

He then started caressing the woman’s breast and thighs. At that point the victim shouted for help and the nurse let her go.

The woman however reported the matter to the District Health Officer and later the police were told.

The suspect comes from Phale Village Traditional Authority Khombedza in Salima and will appear in court soon.

  25. rape is only proved if there z partial or full penetration, but doesn’t matter whether the man released his sperms or not! now tell us was there any penetration? if not then u call it something else! there z nothing like attempted rape, when it comes to rape!

Do you collect medicine in an examination room? Since when has caressing changed its meaning to rape? Was she not told where to go and collect medicine on the subsequent visits?   29. It is important for those who donot understand a thing to find out about it before making a bad comment or wrong interpretation. The meaning of a nurse or nursing as a profession doesnt favour a specific sex thus male or female. The other thing pple shud know is that errors or blunders happen across all professions. However, each and every profession hs got its own ethics but ones personality sometimes violates these ethics hence such a deviant behaviour. That is why we have problems in our country or the world at large, u see this issue has affected a nurse who was supposed to follow or respect patient right to dignity, similarly u see other pple in public offices etc mismanaging resources or finances which they are supposed to take care of, people managing security system involved in theft and examples are many. As a nurse myself, am not happy with the issue much as am not happy with comments of other pple on this page regarding sex and the profession of which they need civic education to be with us in this century.
