Tay Grin’s Chipapapa drops to No. 4 on Trace chart

Malawi’s urban music anthem Chipapapa has slipped by a step into fourth position of Trace Music African Chart having established citizenship on third position a fortnight ago.

The song which was done by Malawi’s high profile rapper Tay Grin featuring 2baba from Nigeria, went all the way from being the country’s top hit to the continent’s phenomenon.

Its visuals which have been a marvel to watch, leaves it among top ten videos in Africa. The Nyau King has expressed dissatisfaction over the demotion.

Yesterday on Facebook he went as far as joking about visiting his home district, Dowa, for some good luck charms.

“Chipapapa is #4 as of tonight. Ine ndi pita kumudzi kwathu ku DOWA. Tikonze zimenezi. Need your help guys let’s keep voting,” wrote Tay Grin.

Chipapapa was and remains destined for the top spot just like any other video in the chart, if and only if people continue to vote in large numbers to keep it in the chart.

It is just a matter of getting the most votes if it is to rule Africa, a possibility which is very much alive.

When Chipapapa made it into the top three a fortnight ago, Grin expressed a word of gratitude to his fans in an exclusive interview with Malawi24.

He thanked them for the overwhelming support which he also need in the meantime to overturn tables.

“I want to thank all my fans for the massive support, you have taken Chipapapa to greater heights. Don’t tire we have more work to do. Your voices are being heard that’s why we are number 3. Let’s get to number one and make history together,” said Tay Grin.

The Blantyre based artist lays down doubts as he maintains that with massive backing Chipapapa will claim the chart’s pole position.

He believes in Malawians as having the capability to unite for a good cause.

Watch gangnam style ,it’s the video creativity that made it have billions of viewers on YouTube. Tay grin might not be the best rapper but his creativity makes things happen. He knows his weaknesses he never gives up,he keeps trying. Lets give him support. If he is not good at punchlines, teach him. No need to pull him down. He is representing our nation.

Tay Grin is very calculative when it comes to music..only wise people understand him. he makes lots of money from music more than your top 5 malawian artistes combined together. in his new projects he is more of singing than rapping bcoz he wants to bring music to a large group of people..the old and the young..expanding his audience not to only hip hop die hards. underground hip hop is more of talking so people are tired of listening to this and that in your rubbish talking…people just wanna have fun..bring a banger that will bring people to the dance floor hence chipapapa is that kind of thing. is not about the message..its a summer jam..a club banger. lets just keep on voting for him…he represents us out there..lets be patriotic. to vote just go to twitter and tweet ”@Trace_Urban play me #chipapapa by @Tay_Grin ft @official2baba”
