Football Association of Malawi (FAM) disciplinary committee has imposed one year bans on 2015 FAM Presidential candidates Wilkins Mijiga and Willy Yabwanya Phiri.
The two have been banned from taking part in any football related activities after they were found guilty of taking football issues to ordinary courts of law contrary to Articles 68 and 47 of FIFA and FAM statuses respectively.
Just as Malawi24 reported some days ago, FA has cleared Super League of Malawi (Sulom) treasurer Tiya Somba Banda of any wrongdoing in the saga.
Initially, the trio had complained to the appeals committee that there were irregularities in the run up to the December 12 FAM elections in Mangochi, forcing Justice Lovemore Chikopa to stop the polls from going ahead.
But the FA used its executive power and went ahead with the polls where Walter Nyamilandu was given a fourth term in office.
Months after the controversial polls, the association handed the issue to the disciplinary committee where Yabwanya Phiri and Mijiga were found guilty of violating sections 68 and 47 of the said FIFA and FAM statuses.
Both parties are yet to comment on the latest development.
