Bashir, Kabichi send Bullets third

Goals from Bashir Maunde and Henry Kabichi were enough to help Nyasa Big Bullets climb to third on the log table after beating Mzuni FC 2 nil at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.

The match started on a slow pace and it took fifteen minutes for the two teams to find their feet. Once they got their rhythm, Bullets found a chance.

It fell to Macfallen Ngwira but he was denied by the Mzuni goalkeeper Rabson Chiyenda who produced an excellent save.

A few minutes later Muhammad Sulumba also had a chance to put Bullets ahead but he shot it straight into the palms of Chiyenda who was outstanding in the student’s goal.

After 33 minutes, Mzuni coach Alex Ngwira introduced Hudson Milanzi on the place of Khumbo Banda who was not ticking for the students in the first half.

Three minutes before the close of the first half Dalitso Sailesi tested the Mzuni goalkeeper with a fine header but Chiyenda was too smartand parried it out.

However, he failed to deny Maunde after he scored from the rebound and it was 1-0 in favour of Bullets.

Come second half, Mzuni started growing into the game as Hudson Milanzi, Henry Misinjo, Fraston Chisi and Luwindiko Mushani were combining well.

Mushani could have levelled the scoreline two minutes after the break when he was well set in the box but Big Bullets goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe was alive to keep out his shot for a corner for Mzuni fc.

A few seconds later Kakhobwe was in action again when he parried away Chisi’s header after a well taken Misinjo corner kick from the left.

Misinjo again came close to put Mzuni back into the game with a fine corner kick which was going into the Bullets net but Kakhobwe tapped it over the bar.

After 57 minutes, Kabichi doubled Bullets lead when he received a through ball from Mike Mkwate who was voted as man of the match after the game.

Time and time again Bullets midfielders in the second half conspired to be losing the ball in dangerous areas but lack of incision in the final third stopped Mzuni from coming back into the game.

However, Misinjo could have pulled a goal back for the students on the 75th minute of the match but he failed to punish Kakhobwe in goals for Bullets after he volleyed his effort over the bar.

On the other end Kabichi could have scored Nyasa Big Bullets third of the afternoon with a fine header but Chiyenda in goals for Mzuni produced another good save.

The students of Mzuzu University tried all they could do to pull a goal back but Bullets defended well and the game ended 2-0 in favour of the People’s Team.

After the game Mzuni coach Alex Ngwira conceded defeat and said they have learned a lesson from the Bullets game and will take tomorrow’s game as a brand new game.

Bullets team manager Rahim Ishmael said he was happy with the win.

In other Super League matches Red Lions suffered another loss at the hands of their brothers in arms Mafco who beat them 1 nil whereas Civo beat Epac fc 1 nil at Civo stadium.
