In the third quarter Kukoma Diamonds dominated again until the final quarter and their dominance helped them to end Tigresses’ dream of defending the Championship.

Kukoma Diamonds took the trophy and K8 Million as prize money.

In her remarks, Captain of Kukoma Diamonds Caroline Mtukule appreciated her team’s hardworking spirit.

“In the first quarter we were behind, but we stayed focused up to an extent that we are now the champions,” Ngwira said.

However, Tigresses coach Peace Chawinga complained that officiating of the game was poor and said it was one of the reasons her team lost.

“Officiating was poor but we can’t do anything, the same thing happened last time when we were playing against Civo, I hope next time umpires will be professional,” said Chawinga.

In the third place playoff, Blue Eagles Sisters beat Civonets by 49 baskets to 47.

Minister of Sports Grace Chiumia was the guest of honour at the event.
