Police in Nkhatabay have found the remains of a 15 year-old student who went missing while fishing on Lake Malawi in the district.
The deceased, Mc Molly Mpuma, fell into the water as he was trying to shift from one rock to another on Sunday afternoon. The law enforcers and divers launched a search for the boy on the same day.
Nkhatabay Police Spokesperson Ignatius Essau confirmed that the remains of the Form two student of St Augustine Day Secondary School were found around Butterfly Lodge, the same area where he was fishing with his friends.
Post-mortem results conducted at Nkhatabay District Hospital revealed that the boy died due to suffocation.
Mpuma hailed from Mkuli Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kabunduli in Nkhatabay District.
