A few days after People’s Party (PP) deputy publicist Moses Kunkuyu left the party, one of the party’s senior members Tony Ngalande has disclosed that he has also dumped Malawi’s former ruling party.
Ngalande announced his decision at a press briefing on Sunday afternoon and said he has dumped the party due to personal reasons.
“I have left the party because I want to be concentrating on my businesses. I hope I will be able to help this country through whatever I will be doing,” said Ngalande.
Ngalande further said he has left the party while it is strong and he is hopeful the party will continue to grow.
The exodus in the former ruling PP follows former President Joyce Banda’s appointment of Uladi Mussa as party president and Kamlepo Kalua as third vice president.
The appointment of the two has brought turmoil as some members are against the move to have Mussa and Kalua as party leaders.
The party members have since got an injunction from Mzuzu High Court restraining the two from taking up their positions.
Reports however indicate that Ngalande is heading to ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), something which he categorically refuted.
