Fia scored his brace in quick succession, to help his team secure the first win in four games as they moved up to 13th with four points from four games.

As for Tigers, this was their second defeat in a row within 24 hours as they went down to Mlatho Mponela with the same margin on Saturday afternoon.

This means that the Blantyre based side have missed a chance to go top as they have dropped into fifth position with six points from five games.

At Karonga Stadium, a brace from Aziz Mwakifuna and a goal each from Bernard Msiska and Gule Mwaluswa inspired Karonga United to a deserved 4-1 victory over Ntopwa FC.

This was Karonga United’s first victory in three matches but it was not enough to take them out of the relegation zone as they are stuck on 15th with three points from three games.

As for Ntopwa, who were coming from a 3-1 victory over Chitipa United on Saturday, they are 11th in the standings with four points from five games.

On Saturday, Kamuzu Barracks were 2-0 winners over Blue Eagles, with both goals coming from Marshal Maluwa.

It was also a day to remember for Mlatho Mponela who collected their first three points of the season with a 2-0 victory over Tigers, with Ntopwa FC recording a 3-1 victory over Chitipa United.

Last season’s top three teams were rested after they contributed more players to the national team but they are likely to get back into the pitch next week with some crucial and entertaining fixtures. The pick of the day the game between Nyasa Big Bullets and Civil Sporting Club at Kamuzu Stadium.
