Musician cum television personality Blackjack has given a green light on the return to the local music scene of the once prominent music groups Nyasa Gurus.
Blackjack who was introduced in local showbiz through the group recently posted on social media informing his followers about the group’s impending project.
“Nyasa Guruz is back in the studio with a new project,” reads part of his recent Facebook post In the post, the artist also calls upon interested producers to contribute towards their projects.
He says: “All the beat makers who fancy being in this project, should send samples of what they believe would suit the group.” Nyasa Gurus made a surprise performance at College of Medicine Sports Complex during the Carlsberg Urban Music Legacy two weeks ago, having been invited on stage by Blackjack who was on the list of performers. They were massively cheered as they sang their 2005 hit entitled Tumpale.
Another hit, Fisi, was their second and last to be performed since they only came to prove they are still intact.
yasa Gurus came into the limelight in 2005 and went all the way to become the country’s best group before disappearing around 2009.
However one member Blackjack kept up the vibe by coming up with solo projects. The group took Malawi by storm in 2005 with their epic collection which enshrines songs like, Nthawi, Suzi, and Tumpale.
As they make a comeback, Malawians expect bombs from their once favourite music group.
