Member of Parliament for Mulanje South Bon Winiko Kalindo might have gained prominence for leading a semi-naked parade against the killing of people with albinism but the political party for which he is a member is unhappy with him and has distanced themselves from him.

At a rally addressed by the President of the party Peter Mutharika in Mulanje which is also the district where Kalindo comes from, speakers at the rally took time to discredit Kalindo.

“Your excellency, you might have heard of some people protesting on the issue of the killings of people with albinism, let me say on behalf of the people of Mulanje that we did not send such people,” said the regional governor (South) of the party Charles Mchacha.

Mchacha said that the parade was not sanctioned by the people of Mulanje nor was it endorsed by the DPP.

Taking his turn, the Secretary General of the Party Ecklen Kudomtoni also dressed down Winiko saying that he was a mad person who was protesting against himself as he was a Member of Parliament who was protesting against Parliament itself.

  8. It really shows that we as malawians lack senses of understanding. Look, winiko is a regislator ( law maker) and such that he could have moved a motion to amend the current law in order to give stiffer penalties to would be albino killers – thus to say ; albino killers – death sentence, ordinary people killers – life in prison as demanded by people. If time was ripe for demonstrations, then it could have been us well dressed ordinary malawians to do so in accordance to what the constitution stipulates. If a law maker takes to streets a concern of citizens, who shall regislate it? Unfortunately he went there half naked advocating to the youth that the best way to show your anger on something is to go nude.

    1. My Malawi is poor readership / ignorant of the word democracy? What matters most is we need to have time of watching. News from the other countries how do they handle such cases. MMr Kalindo is really in a right way of promoting democracy in a right manner, if such people we 10 well parliament would have been well assertive in doing things.
