….as Red Lions move to 12th on the table
Civo United have moved to position 9 on the 2016 Tnm Super League table after beating Peter Mponda’s Wizards 1-nil at Civo stadium on Sunday afternoon in Lilongwe.
Charles Chilembo scored the lone goal of the match after beating the Wizards goalminder whereas at the other end Joseph Anzeru missed a spot kick for Wizards. The result means that Nyasa Big Bullets are now on position 10 while Civo have moved to 9th.
After the game, Civo United coach Milius Pofera Jegwe said he was happy with the win whereas Peter Mponda conceded defeat and said his boys displayed brilliant football.
At Zomba community ground, Red Lions piled more pain on Max Bullets after beating them 2-1 and the result has moved them to position 12 on the table with 10 points from 10 matches.
Peter Makwale scored Red Lions’ second while Freza Menyani scored the consolation goal for Max Bullets.
Despite having a weak defence, Max Bullets shot stopper Alex Makina was the hero of the day as he produced several brilliant saves to deny Red Lions from scoring more goals but 2-1 it ended after 90 minutes of the game.
The result leaves Max Bullets on position 15 with 4 points from 11 games and they are still winless in the league.
At Mzuzu stadium Azam Tigers were held to a goalless draw by Moyale Barracks on Sunday afternoon.
