No salaries for Malawi Civil Servants in May

The Ministry of Finance has bad news for civil servants in Malawi: there is no salary for them in the month of May.

Mangani: No May salaries for Civil Servants

According to a statement signed by Secretary in the ministry of finance, Ronald Mangani, which Malawi24 has seen, the ministry of finance will delay May salaries across the whole spectrum of civil servants.

The statement indicates that the late payment will come as a result of payroll changes that came about after government did a headcount that was meant at purging ghost workers.

Mangani has indicated that the exercise will take time and, therefore, government cannot be able to pay its civil servants in the month of May, especially on the official pay day of 27th.

Meanwhile Mangani has failed to indicate when government will be able to process the payments of the civil servants.

Some quarters have also feared that some civil servants might be omitted on the new payroll.
