Four coffins lie at village ground in Neno.

Reports that Malawi24 is following indicate that Malawi Police officers  have arrested ten people in connection with the brutal killing of four elderly men suspected of witchcraft in Neno earlier this week.

On Monday, a mob murdered the elderly people after suspecting that the four had killed 17 year-old Flora Kanjete in Chimbalanga Village by a magical lightening.

Police in the district identified the four as Eliza Ennosi Kanjete (86), Elenefa Kanjete (76), Byson Kanjete (73), and Idesi Julius Kanjete (69). They all hailed from Chimbalanga village, Traditional Authority Dambe in Neno.

The act has been heavily condemned.

The arrests come just after Malawi President Peter Mutharika asked Malawi Police officers not to sleep over this matter.

Many consult witchdocters or traditional healers to protect themselves from witches. Witchcraft has been there for ages and it will be there forever. It is the power of magic.
