Civo United boss Milias Pofera Jegwe has admitted that his side were not up to the task in their 2-1 Super League defeat to Silver Strikers in the Lilongwe derby.
Goals from Thuso Paipi and Binwell Kapinji handed the central bankers a lifeline in this season’s TNM Super League after they endured two back-to-back losses at the hands of Wanderers and Tigers respectively.
After a disappointing performance at the Civo Stadium Jegwe believes his charges didn’t play as a team and that Silver were the better side.
“We didn’t play well, we didn’t push the ball forward as the team and Silver were the better side no wonder they have won the game. We have to go back and rectify our problems and I believe we can come back a good side,” he said.
Civo’s defence was sloppy in both halves as the team conceded two silly goals that would have been easily dealt with but Pofera refused to criticise his players.
Pofera said: “These are the same players that have been performing better in the previous matches and we are the same people that were given a loud applause.
“And now that they did not perform better it’s improper to go into any individual assessment of any player and as a coach I need to be behind them always.”
