Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Jessie Kabwila says the problems that Malawi is passing through were planned because people in the country politicize everything.

Kabwila was speaking in Lilongwe on Monday at Crossroads Hotel during a public debate on the state of inequality in Malawi.

She said the economic problems Malawi is passing through were planned by some greedy people who are now benefiting from the challenges.

“These problems are planned, there is a need for proper process to cub the greedy politicians, if we don’t processes right we can’t develop right,” said Kabwilla.

The MCP Member of Parliament added that there is a need for Malawians to stop looking at everything through political lens.

The panellists for the inequality public debate in Lilongwe included Chairperson of Media Council of Malawi Wiseman Chijere Chirwa, senior economics lecturer at Chancellor College Dr Richard Mussa, associate professor in the Department of Political and Administrative Studies at Chancellor College Asiyati Chiweza and Henry Kachaje who is an economist.

The debates are being organised countrywide by Oxfam in partnership with Zodiak Broadcasting Station.
