Blue Eagles will face Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the Airtel Top 8 Cup semi-finals despite losing 2-0 to Dedza Dynamos in the quarterfinal second leg played at Dedza Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Going into the match, the Area 30 based side had a commanding 3-0 lead after they hammered their opposition in the first leg a fortnight ago and they had to endure a very long afternoon when Dedza Dynamos scored two quick goals in the second leg but they stood firm to advance into the semis with a 3-2 goal aggregate.

The hosts had a penalty appeal turned down by referee Zebron Lengani in the first half which ended goalless but the last ten 30 minutes of the final half saw Clement Nyondo scoring a brace but it was too late as Eagles held on to set up a semifinal showdown with Wanderers next week.

The result means three teams have progressed to the last four of the competition and the final semifinal slot will be completed on Sunday when Kamuzu Barracks host Silver Strikers at Champions Stadium.

The Capital City Soldiers have scored an away goal in the 1-1 draw when the two teams met at Chitowe Stadium two weeks ago and a draw will be enough to see them through to the semis where they will play defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets.

To reach the semis, Bullets hammered Karonga United 8-1 on aggregate in a two-legged affair whilst Wanderers got the better of Mafco FC 4-0 om aggregate in the two-legged affair.

The winner will pocket 17 million Malawi Kwacha in prize money and a beautiful trophy.

The semis will be played on the weekend of 10 and 11 De at 2022 with the final match being set on 17th December, 2022.
