Prophet Liabunya (R) with Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera on 9 May 2019 before Malawi Presidential Elections
Prophet Austin Liabunya says Malawi is facing economic challenges because God is punishing President Lazarus Chakwera for breaking his covenant with God.
Liabunya said this in a live program on his Facebook Page on Monday.
According to Liabunya, Chakwera made a covenant with God and this elevated him to the presidency. Liabunya did not elaborate on what the covenant was about but said Chakwera broke the covenant after going to State House.
The prophet said there is Juju at State House and Chakwera just relocated to the palace without praying for the palace.
Liabunya claimed that Chakwera engaged some religious leaders based on their education while ignoring preachers who prayed for him when he was in opposition.
Coincidentally, Liabunya was among the preachers Chakwera met prior to the now nullified 2019 presidential elections.
Liabunya, during the live Facebook session, said the solution to Malawi’s economic problems is for Chakwera to go back to the covenant he made with God.
“He must renew his covenant with God. He must remember what was agreed when God was giving Chakwera the calling to the service of the nation.
“When he does that, you will see the hand of mercy that God will stretch over the land of Malawi. It will be a miracle,” said Liabunya.
He then warned Chakwera that if he fails to renew the covenant, Malawians will continue crying and they will get angry and go to the streets to protest against the president.
