Blantyre United claimed the 15th slot in the round of 16 of the Carlsberg Cup following a 3-1 win over Rumphi Medicals at Chilomoni Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
United scored as early as 47 seconds into the match through Jide Mbandambanda.
Apart from that, the first half was a balanced affair as United led 1-0 at half time.
Medicals reorganised themselves soon after recess and took the game to United. It was by no fluke that they got a deserved equaliser in the 50th minute through a perfect header by Jacob Tembo.
However, five minutes later United restored their lead through Ibrahim Sidiki who claimed his brace 22 minutes later to put the game beyond Medicals.
United will face another lower league side Cobbe Barracks in the round of 16.
The last round of 32 match is on Saturday at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe between TN Stars and Prison United
