Man murders wife over jealousy

A 36-year-old man in Lilongwe is in police custody for murdering his wife after suspecting her of  having a sexual affair with another man.

Police have identified the man as Major Wilson and his wife as Teleza Namizinga Wilson.

According to Kanengo police spokesperson Salome Chibwana, the couple had been married for 15 years and had no child.

The husband started suspecting the wife of cheating on him when he heard rumours from people that she was having affairs with other men.

“On the fateful day, the suspect came from work and found his wife attending to customers at their shop. The husband then suspected one man of being his wife’s lover and he ordered his wife to go home and prepare dinner,” said Zgambo.

Later on the husband grabbed all the things that the customer bought alleging that they were given freely to him by the wife.

The husband then went home and started arguing with the woman and later beat her using bamboo stick.

Out of anger, the woman left the bedroom and went to the sitting room while crying.

Later on she stopped crying and the husband thought she was asleep only to wake up in the morning and find the woman dead.

The suspect then called his in law who advised him to surrender himself to police.
Postmortem results done at Kamuzu Central Hospital shows that death was due to blood loss and head injuries.

The suspect will appear in court soon to answer charges of murder.

The woman came from Namate village, Traditional Authority Mthiramanja in Mulanje while the suspect Major Wilson comes from Mdenga village Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka.
