Authorities say a search is underway for a man who went missing after the boat he was in capsized on Lake Malawi on Sunday.
Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Williams Kaponda has identified the missing man as Henry Chirwa who is a fisherman in the district.
Kaponda said Chirwa together with five colleagues went fishing on the lake at Bua Fishing Dock but the boat they were using capsized.
The other five managed to get back to the shore and they were treated as out-patients at Bua Health Centre.
Meanwhile the surrounding communities are searching for the missing person as police in the district have no boat.
Chirwa hails from Makuta 2 village, in the area of Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota district.

These boat operators must also be going to road trafik to get driving license, trafik ID card, COF of their boats and they must also issue a comprehensive insurance. There’s also need to hav speed trap police officers on the lake. 3 passengers per seat in the boat, and also MRA shud collect road tax from them!
well said. all regulations are there but lack the will to enforce.
