Cancer Survivors Quest (CSQ) has asked government to recognise cancer as a condition of interest to every Malawian.
Founder of the organisation Chikhulupiliro Ng’ombe said it is sad that cancer was not included in the Millennium Development Goals though it is taking away many lives.
“Worldwide it seems like cancer has been ignored and it includes diseases like diabetes which have never been in the MDGs,” said Ng’ombe.
He added that there is hope as now there are Strategic Development Goals which includes health access to all as one of the goals.
Ng’ombe further said that there is need for Malawians to go for cancer screening for early detection.
He added that cancer is curable but what is needed is early screening and as an organisation they are optimistic that government will consider their plea.
