Kamwendo leaving Mighty Wanderers again

Malawi international midfielder Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo is on the verge of clinching a deal with Mozambican top side Desportivo Liga Malcumana, according to reports.

The development comes barely two weeks after Kamwendo returned home from Democratic Republic of Congo where he was playing for TP Mazembe.

During his stay in Malawi, he was training with Mighty Wanderers and was heavily linked with a move to the Lali Lubani side.

Kamwendo is however expected to sign a contract with Malcumana in the next few days.

This will be the Flames midfielder’s second stint at the Mozambican club as he also played for them from 2012 to 2013.

Wanderers general Secretary, Mike Butao confirmed the development saying Kamwendo has travelled to Mozambique.

“It is true that Kamwendo has travelled to Mozambique to join his former club ‘Desportivo Liga Malcumana’, said Butao.

Butao added that the Nomads were also discussing with Kamwendo’s parent club TP Mazembe on the possibility of signing the midfielder but the player chose the Mozambican side.

Kamwendo will join other Malawians such as Simplex Nthala, Zicco Nkanda, Gerald Nkungula, Emmanuel Chipatala, Robson Banda, Danga Mlelemba and Lewis Minjale who also play in the Mozambican top-flight league.
