Being gay in Malawi: Don’t dine with sinners

I am a pastor and am a great believer in the love of God for all human kind. God loves us all and i have absolutely no doubt that he wants all of us to come to a place of repentance including gay people. I hate any kind of sin with passion as much as we fall at times into sin ourselves.

However I do have a problem if we begin to embrace sinners and accept their condition in the name of the love of God without sharing that love to them. As children of God we are supposed to share God’s love to every sinner. Psalm 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.

The only time we are allowed to sit, walk and stand with them is when we are preaching the word of God to them. If not, the scripture is clear: 2 Cor 6:14 ‘Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God.

As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” 17 “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” 18 “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”‘

The God who loves all with passion also demands of us to stay away from any appearance of evil and he also says that we don’t make friends with sinners. Our duty is to turn them to the cross and bring them to a place of repentance.

Yes it is true that no-one is righteous but in Christ Jesus we have hope and a right standing with God , that when we seen we have an advocate before the father. I agree, we need to share Christ love to them but my advice is if we are not sharing Christ then what are we doing among them sinners? Should we even be proud to call them friends? and if they are friends what’s the basis of our friendship?

If its its not Christ love am afraid to say that we losing focus!
