Malawian man jailed for raping four year-old girl

As cases of rape and defilement mushrooms in Malawi , a 20 year-old man identified as Ndabandaba has been sentenced to five years imprisonment for defiling a four year-old girl in the northern region district of Mzimba.

Relatives of the victim told our reporter that the convict forcefully dragged the little girl into his house where he forced himself on her.

They said when the convict was done easing his libido on the little girl, he cautioned her not to report him to her parents.

CourtWhen she was on her way home crying with the pain which was coming from her private parts, some people asked the girl the reason behind her loud crying and difficulties in walking but she never told them about the ordeal.

“They brought her to my house where upon looking at her status, I undressed her and found that sperms were all over her private parts. After pressing her hard, she pointed the Ndabandaba as the one who forced himself on her,” said Tryness Chumba, one of the victim’s relatives.

However, they reported the issue late to police hence medical examination results at Mzimba district hospital were not that clear.

But with some valid evidence they had, police arrested the convict. In court, prosecutors urged for a stiff punishment on the case due to the frequency at which related offences are reported to police.

They said offenders are usually doing that at will thus needs to face stiff punishment to deter aspiring offenders. Delivering the ruling, magistrate Gumbo slapped Ndabandaba with a five year jail term because of lack of some comprehensive medical backup as the girl was tested late by medics.

Police publicist for the district, Constable Kanjauso hailed the court for the ruling saying it will deter would-be offenders.

“Such cases are mushrooming in Mzimba thus we believe such rulings will help to serve as a warning to some aspiring offenders,” he said. The convict hails from Peter Ndabandaba village, Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa V in Mzimba district.

  12. It is unfortunate that stress is put on ” Mzimba”! These cases happen every where in the country. It is unfortunate that this time around it is in Mzimba. These guys are insane and should be given maximum sentence ranges between twenty to life imprisonment. Definitely there is never a pleasure sleeping with a minor. The only outcome on this is that the defiled kid will for ever live with nightmares. The thinking capacity of these girls is still below the reasoning age whereby they can pick on anything good or bad, they don’t care. Countries like Zambia, these stupid guys are given very stiff sentences ranging in the thirties. These guys are messing up these girl’s future.

  46. This is happening everywhere in Malawi. I have read about another 53 year old having force landed on a 3 year old girl in Lilongwe. This has nothing to do with ethnicity. It is witchcraft. The increase in defilement, albino abduction, human trafficking, human parts trading, killings by intentional accidents so on so forth are not normal activities in our societies. People are being made to believe, that once they do that, something miraculous gonna happen to their advantage.
