After being killed by his running mate and a former minister, President Peter Mutharika has been killed again.
An MBC Journalist whom Malawi24 understands is Mwayi Mtumodzi has been suspended from the public broadcaster alongside three other people for referring to President Peter Mutharika as ‘late’.
In a report aired on MBC television, Mtumodzi was reporting on the visit by Tanzanian President John Magufuli.
Upon arrival in Lilongwe, Magufuli had gone to lay a wreath on the statue of former President Bingu wa Mutharika who is also brother to current President Peter Mutharika.
In the report, however, Mtumodzi referred to the statue as belonging to ‘the late Proffesor Arthur Peter Mutharika’.
Mtumodzi’s gaffe comes on the footsteps of another made by the DPP running mate Everton Chimulirenji in Likoma who claimed that Peter Mutharika died in 2012.
Former minister Vuwa Kaunda was also captured on camera claiming that Peter Mutharika is the one that died in 2012.
Media reports have reported that the public broadcaster has taken action on the journalist and three other people including a news editor over the airing of the report on the station.
