Silver Strikers have completed FISD Challenge Cup semifinal set following their 2-0 win over Kamuzu Barracks (KB) at Silver Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Khuda Muyaba netted a brace to secure the central bankers’ slot in the last four and boost their chances of grabbing silverware in 2018 soccer season which closes on last day of this month.

Both Muyaba’s goals came in the second half with the first one coming after six seconds and the other one was scored from the spot and assistant coach Peter Mgangira in an interview praised his men for a wonderful play.

“We wasted several opportunities in the first half but come the second half the boys did the best and you can see that we got those goals,” said Mgangira.

While KB Coach Temwa Msuku said he was not surprised to see his side bidding farewell considering how his boys performed on the pitch especially in the second half.

“We have to accept that we are out and it was obvious considering the fact that we played well in the first two quarters then we failed to perform in the next quarters, but congratulations to Silver Strikers,” he said.

This means that the soldiers who were the defending champions will have nothing to show their commander in-chief as they have failed to defend this prestigious cup which they won last year after beating fellow soldiers, Moyale Barracks in the finals.

Bankers will now face Nyasa Big Bullets this coming Sunday at Bingu National Stadium.

On Saturday, Be Forward Wanderers and Moyale Barracks will meet in the first semifinal at the same venue.

However, the Lilongwe based side will only have three days to prepare as they have another crucial encounter on Wednesday against AO CMS of Gabon in the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round second leg match.

On aggregate, the bankers are trailing by a goal to nil and a win at home is a must.
