25 year old arrested for impregnating 16 year old ‘wife’

They set off to live like a couple but their ‘unofficial’ arrangement has landed the man, a 25 year old, into trouble.

Police in Ntchisi district have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 16-year-old girl whom he had married.

The incident happened from the month of July 2016 to August 8 2016 at Kamsonga Village in Ntchisi. Police have identified the man as Yamikani Mathews of Nikanganila Village in the area of Traditional Authority Nazombe in Phalombe.

crime (2)Police investigations revealed that the 16-year-old victim in the month of July this year left her home for Kamsonga Market but he did not came back until his father started looking for her.

It is alleged that the victim’s father heard a romour that his daughter is at Kamsonga Village and upon visiting the village the victim was found at the suspect’s house after being married to the suspect and they were living as a family.

The suspect was arrested which he admitted the charge. Medical examination at Kamsonga Health Centre shown that the girl was defiled and she was also pregnant.

The suspect will appear in court soon to answer defilement charges.
