Despite Malawi police downplaying reports the existence of a market for albino bones in the country, Member of Parliament for Mulanje South Bon Kalindo has maintained that there is a market for the bones.

Kalindo popualry known as Winiko argued that if the country had no market for the bones, there would not have been a rise in the killings of people with albinism.

Speaking to the local press, Kalindo said people killing albinos know there is a market which he claimed rich Malawians are behind.

“Am telling you there is a market in Malawi, if we had no market, this barbaric act could have ended by now. I am surprised with police telling people that there is no market, these bones are sold here in Malawi,” said Kalindo.

He  further said that his actions last week sought to promote rights of albinos and remind the President Peter Mutharika that during his rule, people are being brutally killed while government is just enjoying news about the bloodshed.

The legislator added that the country needs to have death sentence as a solution to end the malpractice arguing that international instruments have been deemed to be fuelling lighter sentences.

“We should forget about Mzungu!!, who is he to us!, If we are really serious of ending this act, we need to follow what is in our constitution,” added Kalindo.

Following his semi-naked parade, Kalindo has been reported to be living in hiding due to death threats.

Suffocating the market is the only way to deal with the problem. If the market is known why not just mention the market please honourable than finger pointing as you have done with half naked match.
