The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says all is set for the 22 December Parliamentary and Local Government By-elections.
The electoral body says all preparations for the polls are completed and the centres are ready for polling which will start from 6am and close at 6pm or when the last person, to be at the polling station before closing time, votes.
The commission has since advised voters not to wear or carry anything that can identify them with a particular party or candidate.
“All voters are advised not to wear or carry any paraphernalia that can identify them with a particular party or candidate. Those who do so, will be turned back to dress properly,” warned MEC.
MEC also emphasised that it has empowered presiding officers to remove any campaign material within a 100 metre radius of the polling station since campaign ended on December 20, 2015 and therefore, no campaign activity should be undertaken.
The commission is holding the by-elections in Zomba Chisi Constituency, Ngala Ward in Lilongwe Msozi North, and Mtope Ward in Mchinji West today.
