Medical officer attempts to rape ‘pregnant’ woman

crime (2)Police in Malawi’s Mulanje district are keeping in custody a Radiographer at Mulanje Hospital for allegedly attempting to rape a woman.

Police identified the man as Kenneth Mkoningo, aged 28. Mulanje Police Spokesperson, James Kadadzera, said the suspect was on Wednesday examining a woman (name withheld) who had gone to the hospital to confirm whether she was pregnant or not.

“He told the woman to lie down on bed naked to scan her, then he started putting his fingers into the victim’s private parts while the other hand was caressing her breast,” said Kadadzera.

The woman later rushed to his husband who was outside and reported the matter to health officials at the hospital who reported Mkoningo to police.

Mkoningo hails from Benjamin Village Traditional Authority Kilipula in Karonga district. He will soon appear before court to answer charges of attempted rape.

  21. I don’t think this woman has any backing that the said doctor, whether radiographer, wanted to rape her. He was doing his job using the methods he knows. If she knows how to examine pregnancy, why did she go to the hospital? Only to term the method used was an intention to rape her? Thus nosense. She is insane I hope.
