Malawi Super League contenders Azam Tigers came from behind to force a one all draw with Dedza Young Soccer at Dedza Stadium.
Dedza Young Soccer took a lead in the first half through Ferguson Mtondo’s goal that put the visitors under pressure till the match break.
Dedza Young Soccer were coming into this game from a 1 nil win over Moyale Barracks last week while their opponents were coming from another 1 all draw with Mzuni fc on 26 September.
Dedza Young Soccer dominated the entire first half as they made Azam Tigers to dance to their tune at Dedza stadium this afternoon.
Ntondo put Dedza Young Soccer Saints a head in the first half as he scored a beauty pass the Azam Tigers goal minder.
After that goal Azam Tigers started pressing for an equalizer but Dedza Young Soccer defenders stood firm as the did not allow Tigers to put the ball into the back of their net and the first half ended 1-0 in favor of Dedza Young Soccer.
Come the second half Azam Tigers started the match on a higher note and they pressurized the Dedza defense but still failed to snatch an equalizer that could have put the “Kau kau boys” back into the game.
Azam Tigers missed the services of their midfielder Yamikani Chester who was with the Malawi national team which played against Tanzania on the same day at Kamuzu stadium, in a match they won 1 nil but lost on aggregate 1-2 to proceed in the World Cup qualification race.
Peter Katsonga Tigers hit-man tried all he could to find an equalizer for Tigers but all his efforts proved infertile as Jegwe Pofera’s boys defended their goal jealously.
Dedza Young Soccer Saints again started dominating the game as they were exchanging passes well from the defense up to Tigers goal and kept on pressurizing the Tigers defense.
As the game was looking to be going into Dedza’s was, Azam Tigers scored their most awaited equalizing goal that forced the two teams to share the points and the game ended 1-1.
The draw has moved Dedza Young Soccer Saints to 11 on Malawi’s elite league log table with 19 points from 19 games.
