Ecobank Malawi has today partnered with Malawi Council for the Handicapped (Macoha) to drive this year’s Ecobank day agenda that is focusing on driving financial inclusion towards persons with disabilities.
According to Ecobank Head of Brand, Marketing & Corporate Communications Tidzi Chalamba, Ecobank thought of venturing into the partnership with Macoha as one way of expressing the bank’s commitment to uplifting lives of persons with disabilities.
Chalamba said the partnership will see the bank through Macoha supporting different persons with disabilities in their skills.
“As we count down to this year’s Ecobank Day scheduled on 12 November we are pleased to partner with Macoha a reputable institution that has been empowering persons with disabilities for over 50 years.
“Through this partnership we will work together to uplift a number of skilled persons with disabilities that the institution has trained by giving them a head start to their business so that they are economically and financially empowered,” said Chalamba.
In his remarks, Macoha Acting Executive Director Dryford Mpunga thanked Ecobank for the partnership saying it has come at the right time as they prepare for this year’s Flag week.
“There are a lot of persons with disabilities in Malawi who are lacking support to attain self -reliance. We thank Ecobank for this partnership. We strongly believe that this collective action will go a long way in advancing self-reliance amongst persons with disabilities,” said Mpunga.
Recently, the bank partnered with Bonface Ndamera of the Chinafuna M’bale fame to be this year’s Champion of the Ecobank Day and social media Platform Mikozi Network to drive awareness of the same.
Ecobank Day whose celebrations are slated for November 12 and is under the umbrella theme of “Financial Inclusion for All-Leave No One Behind”, is the banks flagship annual CSI event that showcases its commitment towards giving back to its local communities.
