A vehicle belonging to Dedza district hospital has hit to death a 9 year old boy in Dedza.
According to Dedza police deputy publicist, Constable Cassim Manda, the accident occurred on Thursday at around 5pm at Wilson village along Magomero – Mikondo earth road in the district.
Constable Manda identified the victim as Jason Banda of Wilson village in area of Traditional Authority Kachere in the district.
He has since identified the driver as Thomas Khota, 50, from Masitala village in the area of Traditionally Authority Kwataine in Ntcheu.
Manda said Thomas Khota, was driving a vehicle registration number MG 401AG from the direction of Magomero heading towards Mikondo.
Upon arrival at Wilson village, Khota suddenly saw an unknown motorcycle which was coming from opposite direction, encroached to his lane of the road.
Khota later drove to the offside lane as he tried to avoid a head on collision where he hit a young male pedestrian Jason Banda.
Jason sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
Meanwhile, police say they have launched investigation into the matter.
