Hip hop sensation Fredokiss took the capital Lilongwe by storm with a free show at Masintha ground on Saturday.
After a successful event of similar nature in Ndirande in Blantyre last month, the rapper deemed it wise to head to the country’s centre. Armed with a mic, his mission was equally accomplished.
A multitude of people from different areas of the city invaded the ground to witness the occasion. Passersby even mistook the event for a political rally due to the bigness of the crowd.
Fredokiss whose real name is Penjani Kalua, dished out all his popular songs. His performance of every song was accompanied by resounding cheers from the attendants as others rapped along.
Kalua explained to the local media the motive behind the free shows as being interacting with his fans and sharing knowledge on issues affecting the youth.
He added that he wants to give to his fans who cannot afford to pay for shows, an opportunity to see him perform.
The Blantyre based artist hinted on hitting the northern city of Mzuzu with another free show.
While others speculate that he is targeting a political seat, Fredokiss has always argued that he is bigger than any politician thus no need to join politics.
The Ghetto King Kong as Fredokiss is popularly known, earns popularity in the country for addressing pressing issues in his music.
His message tackles on issues that are derailing progress in the country.
Recently, he reworked on veteran musician Lucius Banda’s song titled njira zawo. The song aims at leaders who do not trivialises welfare of their charges.
