…Blantyre United continues to struggle

Azam Tigers are the new Super League leaders thanks to their hard fought 1-0 victory over Mzuni FC at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Bonda Mpinganjira scored the only goal of the match to send Tigers top of the standings, dislodging Red Lions on goal difference.

It was another successful afternoon for Kau Kau Boys at Mzuzu Stadium as they dominated the proceedings with some tactical disciplines.

Despite Mzuni FC’ stubbornness when playing at home, Tigers never looked intimidated as they banged in three points before facing Chitipa United at the same venue on Sunday.

At MDC Stadium, Blantyre United’ poor run of form continued when they lost 1-nil to resurgence Blue Eagles.
Elijah Kabingu scored the winner just before the interval to condemn Lawson Nakoma boys to another defeat.

After giving away a two goal lead to Tigers last week to draw 3-3, the hosts never looked like scoring as they failed to unlock stubborn Eagles defence.

The match had fewer chances but it was Eagles who utilized their closest chance to frustrate the hosts at their own backyard.

At Civo Stadium, Civil Sporting Club ended Red Lions’ unbeaten run to the season after beating the Soldiers 1-nil.

The first half was dull but Civil got things right just three minutes after the recess thanks to a header by substitute Fletcher Bandawe who received a master class cross from Raphael Bands.

The win takes Civil to 12th position with 7 points while Red Lions have dropped to second position.

And at Chitowe Stadium, Mafco FC and Dwangwa United shared a point a piece following a 1-all draw.

Gibson Nkhonjera opened the scoring for Salima based Soldiers but Josophat Kwalira made things happen for MacDonald Mtetemera’ men as he pulled level with few minutes to play.

Dwangwa would have collected maximum points had it been that they did not miss the penalty they won in the second half.

The action continues on Sunday afternoon.

At Kalulu Stadium, struggling Nyasa Big Bullets will play host to much improved Premier Bet Wizards while Chitipa United will welcome Tigers at Mzuzu Stadium.

At Civo Stadium, battle for friendly forces as defending league champions Kamuzu Barracks will entertain Moyale Barracks.
