48 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exam candidates from Manyamula Community Day Secondary School in Mzimba were on Friday involved in an accident as they were going to their centre to sit for Friday’s paper.

Confirming the development to the media was Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) public relations officer, Simeon Maganga.

Maganga said he was saddened with the accident which has seen the candidates failing to sit for Friday’s paper.

Police report indicates that the candidates were traveling in a lorry heading towards Edingeni cluster centre to sit for the exams.

It is reported that before reaching the cluster centre, the vehicle which they were traveling in overturned as the driver failed to control it due to brake failure.

Luckily enough, there was no death reported during the accident but over ten candidates have been admitted at the district’s hospital after sustaining injuries.

On Friday only, there were about three other accidents reported which include the Zalewa bus accident, Magalasi truck accident and Nsipe lorry accident
