Former Be Forward Wanderers supporters’ chairperson has disclosed that many football teams in Malawi including his favourite team use juju.
Malunga told the local media that football teams in the country do not play the beautiful game without relying on traditional medicine.
He claimed that the Nomads’ loss in Airtel Top 8 final was because of charms used by Lilongwe based giants Silver Strikers Football Club who won the cup.
According to Malunga, Silver Strikers’ tactic of substituting their goalkeeper was the main cause of Nomads’ defeat since the shot stopper who was introduced came in with charms.
He also claimed that when he was leading the supporters committee at Wanderers, he was at times tasked with keeping the club’s juju.
During Airtel Top 8 semifinal between Moyale and Nomads, a Be Forward Wanderers supporter urinated on the goalposts at Bingu National Stadium.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) fined Nomads for the conduct which it described as unsporting behaviour.
