Termination of pregnancy bill will not mean abortion galore – activists

One of the organisations advocating for abortion says the proposed termination of pregnancy bill will not allow women to abort babies whenever they want.

This is coming at a time when there has been controversy over the termination of pregnancy bill as some quarters led by the church do not want to see it tabled in Parliament saying abortion is the same as killing.

But the organisation, Coalition for the Prevention of Unsafe Abortion (COPUA) President Jennipher Mkandawire, says there is need to civic educate Malawians so that they understand that the bill will not allow every woman to abort a pregnancy whenever they want.

“Most people think that when the bill is passed it will allow every woman to terminate a pregnancy whenever they want which is not the case,” said Mkandawire.

She added that there will be tangible reasons for a woman to terminate a pregnancy but they will not be able to do so without proper reasons.

The Malawi constitution already provides for safe abortion in cases where the pregnancy threatens the life of the woman.

Recently, churches held demonstration against the tabling of the abortion bill saying it is a threat to life and family.

  1. Abortion is murder. NO EXCUSE

    They say “what if the woman was raped/incest” – that’s horrible but it is not the baby’s fault.

    But look at places like America or England – 94 percent of America’s abortion is “because I want to”. No “medical reason” or rape or incest. Just selfishness. Mass-murder just because. In England, the average 14 year old girl has already had an abortion, I know about 21 year old English girls who had 7 already. Murderers!!! Even down in South Africa, they murder 7000 babies a month legally – by comparison, according to the SA TRC 1997 they killed 7000 people in Apartheid in 41 years. (and about 20000 a month killed in illegal abortions in SA). In England, 21000 killed per month. In America, 3500 killed per day. PER DAY. In some European countries they are already unofficially killing babies just after they were born!

    Also brethren, look at the anti-Black agenda in abortion. In America, in South Africa, for example they put abortion clinics in predominantly poor, Black areas (townships, ghettos) – it is eugenics (=selective killing based on genes), and it is racist. The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, said Black people are “human weeds” and she wanted black people and crippled people to be killed!!! Look it up for yourself!

    Also, the excuse they use for abortion is to say the baby is a “fetus”. This lie comes from Ernst Haeckel in Germany, in 1869-1874 he lied about the embryos in his “ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny” theory, which also claimed that “foetuses” have gill slits like fish. He admitted in 1874 – 143 years ago – at the trial of the University of Jena that it was all a lie! Yet only a few years ago school textbooks around the world, Discovery TV shows, were using this lie as “evidence” for evolution!!! This is where the idea comes from, that the unborn baby is just a “fetus”. Because “terminating a fetus” sounds nicer than “murdering a baby”.

    Many other nations have defiled their land with their mass murder of people through abortion, and through sodomy. In the Old Testament, when one person died, their blood screamed out to the LORD for vengeance. Now imagine the millions murdered every year around the world through abortion, and their murderers get paid and elevated by society.

    Please do not let Malawi defile itself! Maybe there is less electricity than the West, but banning these are some of the things that Malawi has got right!!!

    And if anyone here has had an abortion, Jesus loves you and wants to forgive you. Your dead baby is in Heaven (2 Samuel 12:23), and wants you to join them one day. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved! (Acts 16:31) Don’t go to Hellfire, go to Heaven!!!

  24. Whats wrong with U?…..Malawians said No, so u must understand this No is No, we don’t want to talk about this isue again and again, are u forcing us to legalise a sin in the name of human rights?…..go elsewhere with that but not here in malawi!
