…Mafco dates Bullets, Red Lions to play Silver
The eight remaining teams will battle it out for a place in the 2016 Carlsberg Cup semi-finals this coming weekend.
Reigning defending champions Be Forward Wanderers, Nyasa Big Bullets, Prison United, Mangochi Police, Silver Strikers, Red Lions, Mafco and Premier Bet Wizards F.C made it to the quarter-finals of the cup but by the end of 90 minutes on Saturday, only four teams will progress through to the last four.
In a repeat of 2015 quarter-final clash in which Bullets won 8-7 on post match penalties to progress to the semi-finals, the two teams will meet again for the second time this year in a cup competition but this time around, at Mafco’s backyard in Nkhotakota’s Chitowe Stadium.
They met a month ago in the Presidential Cup semi-finals where Bullets thumped the Soldiers 3-nil to book their place in the final but Mafco have a chance to avenge that defeat at their ground.
In other quarter-final matches, holders Wanderers will be hosted by rookies Prison United at Balaka Stadium.
On Sunday afternoon, Red Lions will play host to Silver Strikers at Balaka Stadium whilst Wizards FC will rock horns with Mangochi Police at Surestream Stadium in Blantyre.
