Devotion: Control the thoughts

Phi 4:8 WEB* “Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.”

A person is the reflection of his or her mind.Proverbs 23:7. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Your behavior is driven by the mind.

Every person whose mind is saturated by wrong stuff, behaves wrongly. Those full of the Word would also behave differently because of the Word.

There are specific lines of thoughts that should be allowed in your mind. Every thought that doesnt conform to the Word of God should never be tolerated in you. In Phillipians 4:8 above, We are introduced to the Biblical line of thinking.

All of these are positives, there are no negatives. Refuse every negative thought coming unto you. Every thought should be measured whether it conforms to any of these.

Guard your heart against all negatives.Proverbs 4 : 23 “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.”

For you to control the mind, you need to renew it through the Word. What pollutes and what corrects and cleanses the mind are the things we watch, we read and listen to.

That is why those who watch, read or listen to wrong stuff have their minds polluted. Those who are constantly in God’s Word have their minds renewed and are able to think and act positively.Rom 12:2 WEB* “Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.”

If you are a believer and are keeping wrong messages,news, images,photos or movies that do not conform to the Word such as those that contain nudity or foul language, dispose them immediately. They will pollute your mind and will eventually pollute you.

If you like watching programmes that convey wrong about failure or messages such as that all spouses are cheaters, they will pollute your mind and you will find it hard to believe that your spouse is faithful to you. Take them off.

Or if you have some material that convey a message that one race is superior to another, dispose them off. And any such materials should be kept far from you.

The Word is the mirror(James1:22). When you study the Word, a new image from the mirror of the Word is formed in your mind and you are transformed into that same image from glory to glory. Therefore stick to the Word and get the right results.

Through the Word you can reprogramme your mind for right results. 2 Cor 3:18(Amplified) “And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.”

Prayer

Thank you father for the Word which I use to transform my image and my life. Every day I am changed into the image which I see in the Word from glory to glory. My mind is renewed and am thinking positively.In Jesus name. Amen . To be born again, prayer and counselling contact +265888326247.
