In its continued operations, the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has sealed Shire Highlands Hotel in Limbe, Blantyre over poor hygienic conditions at the facility in accordance with its laws.
According to MBS’s Facebook post, the suspension is ‘with immediate effect’.
”MBS has with mmediate effect suspended operations of Shire Highlands Hotel situated in Limbe due to non compliance with hygienic conditions as stipulated in Malawi Standard Number 21: Food And Food Processing Units – Code Of Hygienic Conditions.” a depict of the MBS Facebook page reads.
MBS has since asked the general public not to patronize the Hotel until matters of hygiene at the Hotel and the ban are cleared.
The Hotel also made headlines in January this year after the Blantyre Water Board came across illegal water connections which they were using for the hotel.
It was reportedly fined for the water it used illegally for the stated period.
