Azam Tigers woes in the second round of Malawi’s top flagship league continue as they have been demolished 3-1 by Blue Eagles at Nankhaka stadium on Sunday.

Blue Eagles were coming from a 2-1 win in the Standard Bank Cup semi final whereas their opponents Azam Tigers were coming from a 1 all draw with Mighty Wanderers.

A hatrick from former Comoros based club striker ,Wister Phiri, was enough for the Malawi Police outfit to attain three points on top of the Kau Kau boys.

Yamikani Chester Scored the only consolation goal for Azam Tigers who have played 8 games in the second round of the top flight league.

Declerk Nsakakuona, Coach for Blue Eagles said he was happy with the win over Kanjedza based side.

” I am happy that my team has trashed Tigers that has been tough to beat this season,” said Nsakakuona.

While Azam Tigers Technical Director, Robin Alfandika, said he remained optimistic that despite the loss his side will start doing better.

” Not very bad because out of 8 game we have gain some points and just give us a minute you will see a change to our team,” uttered Alufandika.

Tigers has managed to collect 32 points and has 6 games left to end the season and is on 8th position.
