Malawi top flight league title contenders, Silver Strikers, have gone out of the contest after being forced to a two-all draw with Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Bankers went with two goals from Peter Wadabwa and Blessing Tembo before Harvey Mkacha pulled one back with 30 seconds before the half time.

Just 28 seconds into the second half, Zinjani Yona leveled the scores for Kamuzu Barracks after the Bankers defense lapsed.

Both sides tried all what they could to find a goal for three points but either side did not manage to find it.

Victor Limbani could have been the hero after 85 minutes but his powerful shot went off target about twenty meters from the goal post.

After 90 minutes of regulation time it was 2-2.

Lovemore Faziri, Coach for the Bankers, admitted that his side is no longer in a race for the title.

“Yes now we can say that we are out of the race due to today’s result,” admitted Faziri.

However, Faziri blamed the referees for poor officiation.

” Referee has contributed to this draw, he was not aware of his role, he don’t even qualifies to officiate primary school football,” said Faziri.

While Kamuzu Barracks Coach, Kennedy Nkhoma hailed his charges  for gallant fight.

” Let me thank my boys for a point as you know they came from behind,” said Nkhoma.

The Bankers are on fourth position points away from league leaders, Big Bullets.
