Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has come out with blazing guns, firing shots at a local newspaper for suggesting that the body has awarded exclusive Television Broadcasting Rights to Mibawa Television.
On Friday, the Nation Newspaper had reported Sulom has awarded the exclusive rights to Mibawa Television as official broadcasters of the 2019 TNM Super League games.
The article further suggested that Sulom and Football Association of Malawi (FAM) had a meeting with all the media houses before awarding the exclusive rights to Mibawa Television.
However, the article has been shot down by the body saying they know nothing about what the newspaper has published.
The body’s President Tiya Somba Banda said the article is a bit out of context.
“I believe the Headline is a bit out of context. Mibawa doesn’t have any exclusive broadcasting rights or contract with SULOM. They are broadcasting games on a game to game basis just as any other broadcaster can do. This offer of cherry picking games is open to all broadcasters at the moment just like we do with radios,” he was quoted.
Mibawa Television has been beaming games since last season but they are yet to strike a deal with both FAM and Sulom.
