Mulanje South Parliamentarian Bon Kalindo has said his arrest which saw him getting thrown into Zomba prison on remand last week, was not a punishment but a favour.
Kalindo who is also national youth director for United Transformation Movement (UTM) was arrested two weeks ago for conduct likely to cause breach of the people. He committed the offence in Balaka.
Speaking on Zodiak`s Tiuzeni Zoona programme on Sunday, the Mulanje legislator said he wished he had spent more days in prison.
Kalindo, who is known as Winiko in theatre circles, said his short stay in prison was as good as a research mission especially on the subject of killing and abduction of people with albinism which is yet to end in the country.
“I learnt a lot in prison. I now know that some officials are behind atrocities against people with albinism in the country,” said Kalindo.
The legislator was granted bail on 14th January. When asked as to why he pursued bail since he wanted to remain in prison, he said his actions were just in the name of following procedures.
Commenting on his attack by alleged DPP cadets, two days after his release, Kalindo said he does not fear his attackers. He also faulted some Malawians for saying his injuries were faked. He added that DPP is full of savages who thinks Malawi as belonging to them.
