The defending Super League champions had a disappointing game on Saturday when they lost 1-0 to Kamuzu Barracks but turned things around on Sunday when they thumped struggling Civo Service United 2-0 at Civo Stadium.

Without Six key players due to injuries, Nyasa Big Bullets meant business as they got their lead in the 12th minute through Muhamad Sulumba who was released to the left flank by Dave Ng’ambi before being stretched off.

Civo then settled down in the midfield as Bullets failed to keep possession but Raphael Phiri was too slow in front of goals.

Bullets walked past Civo.

Bullets shot-stopper Ernest Kakhobwe was called into action midway through the half to deny Richard Chande from making a simple tap in.

At the other end, Sulumba wrestled with Civo’s defence to release Mussa Manyenje who came in for Ng’ambi but the former Epac FC forward shot wide off the goal mouth.

The servants almost pulled level just before the interval when Chiku Kanyend for Bullets was caught in the jaws of a crocodile only to be saved by Yamikani Fodya’s last minute intervention.

In the second half, the midfield battle intensified as Bullets’s were unable to keep possession as they greatly missed the services of Mike Mkwate and Dalitso Sailesi.

Henry Kabichi dribbled past Civo’s defence but he failed to put the ball into the back of the net as he slipped down just close to the penalty box.

Nelson Kangunje had to be introduced by Civo’s mentor Milias Pofera who was racing against time as Bullets’s defence gave his side no chance.

But after 20 minutes into the half, the play was stopped as the referee Brighton Bilito made a u-turn on his earlier decision to deny Manyenje’s goal despite awarding the goal before consulting his fourth official.

However, Manyenje could not be denied this time around when he scored a beauty from a Fischer Kondowe’s million dollar cross from the right flank, 2-0.

Bilito had to add eight additional minutes but Bullets stood firm to collect the much needed three points over winless Civo Service United.

Bullets team manager Rahim Ishmael hailed his boys for collecting all the three points but admitted that injuries are making it very difficult for Bullets to play their usual game.

Civo’s mentor conceded defeat by admitting that his side is going through a difficult time but he was quick to re-assure his fans that things will turn around very soon.

The result sees Bullets climbing up to 10th with 16 points from ten games. As for Civo, they are now 11th on the table with 15 points from 13 games so far.
