A 13 year-old boy Ackim Lekeleni is battling for his life after being burnt by his father Byson Lekeleni, 32 in Nkhotakota district.
According to the suspect’s wife, on May 4 this year, her husband left home for beer drinking and came back drunk.
After giving him supper, the wife confronted her husband over his habit of selling maize to satisfy his drinking habit.
The husband got angry with the advice and ordered his wife and children to leave the house. The suspect then angrily grabbed his son and threw him in boiling water.
The 13 year-old boy sustained wounds around the stomach and part of the back.
According to Nkhotakota Police Station Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Williams Kaponda, the mother and well-wishers took the victim to Mkaika Police Unit and officers sent them to Nkhotakota District Hospital where the boy has been admitted.
Police in the district arrested Lekeleni and he is expected to appear in court soon to answer the charge of causing grievous harm contrary to section 238 of penal code.
The suspect hails from Chitsuro village, Senior Chief Mwadzama in Nkhotakota.
