Drunkard severely scalds his friend with hot water

Malawi police in the northern region district of Mzimba have arrested 20 year-old Khumbo Shaba on charges of indecent assault after he dipped his drunkard in a pot of hot water used to brew Kachasu at Nyakapeska drinking joint in the district.

Police publicist for the district, Constable Kanjauso, said the victim, Gift Gondwe, has since been admitted at Mzimba district hospital where he is receiving medical attention.

He further said that the two picked a squabble over a bottle of beer which Shaba had asked the victim to buy for him. After the victim snubbed his command, Shaba got very furious and resolved to use force to attain his wish.

“He then picked the victim and obscured him in a pot where there was very hot water which they use to brew Kachasu. He was severely wounded and was later taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment,” said Kanjauso.

Shaba is expected to appear before the court to answer charges of indecent assault which is contrary to section 238 of the Penal Code.

Gondwe hails from Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe in Rumphi district while Shaba hails from Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa V in Mzimba district.
