Speaking to Malawi24 on Thursday, Zomba police public relations officer, Patricia Supuliano, said the suspect on 27 July this year took five children of between 14 and 17 years-old to Mozambique for them to work in an estate with the consent of their parents.

“We heard a report from members of the community and we conducted our investigations hence the arrest, currently the children have been brought back in Malawi.”

“We would like to warn estate owners to curb employing children and to parents and guardians to stop such malpractices or in contrary the law will prevail on them,” she said.

According to Supuliano, the suspect will appear before court to answer charges of abduction contrary to section 79 of Child Care and Protection Act.

Moses hails from Mango village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwambo in Zomba.
